Softness by Design
Besides the obvious eco benefits, oxygen, and softening of space—why plants? I think my count is up to 28, maybe more, inside my home. Outside, so many more. Not just everywhere—curated, intentional, framing and screening in specific ways.
It wasn’t until recently that I went “all-in” on plants inside. It doesn’t seem like an “all-in”–worthy topic, so let me take it off that pedestal. As I was reflecting after a personal shift in life, looking back at image collections I’d gathered over time, I noticed I had images of plants or plant-heavy scenes throughout. In my photos, the same thing. They kind of go against a minimalist approach to space, but I think they’re actually the layer above the minimalist canvas. Yes, they soften the space you’re in, but they invite the outside in—even if it’s only implied.
I don’t have a green thumb yet. I’m working on it. I’m hoping the plants have patience.
