Ten Small Truths

I was thinking about how to get going on here and came across Carl’s post, originally by David, and really liked his alternate take on these ten pointless questions. So here we go!

  1. What’s the last thing you fixed?
My keychain. I use the very minimal KeySmart mini key organizer after trying so many other options to keep my keys organized and not making noise when walking like a custodian. The screw keeps getting loose and I keep having to fix it. I’ve tried so many times to get rid of keys and minimize the quantity, but I do have quite a few to carry.

  2. Favourite website right now?
Hard to name just one, but considering what I do and the busy time of the year, zen habits really has me smiling while reading right now.

  3. How many house plants do you own?
Sixteen inside (I had to walk around and count), and I’m looking to add a few more in the coming week. They’re all different kinds, and I’m learning how I’m worse at keeping the more low-maintenance ones (succulents) healthy vs the other bigger plants. I’m not great at it yet, but learning.

  4. Something you’ve stopped caring about recently?
FOMO. It’s a real thing and I’m usually very aware of it. Some recent life changes had my attention on things that I wouldn’t normally pay attention to (boredom set in) and I caught myself thinking about it. Fixed that asap, and I’m glad I did.

  5. An item on your wish-list you can’t justify paying for?
I try to be very practical with items on my wish-list. An ADU is my most impractical item, squarely in the want, not need category.

  6. What do you want to like more than you actually like?
Long walks. I enjoy the exercise of it, the outdoors, but I haven’t yet mastered the mental clarity and ease of it. I think I’m too impatient with it all. When I take a ruck pack with me, that helps — feels more purposeful.

  7. Favourite form of exercise?
Weight lifting, specifically landmine rows (I had to look up what it’s called). I’m getting back into training and I feel the best after that exercise.

  8. Which season do you feel most connected to?
I have a romanticized connection with late fall to early winter, but I think that’s changing to late summer. Late summer fire pit sessions for the win.

  9. Something you miss from childhood?
My grandma’s stories. Storytelling is a big part of my business, and she was one of the best at it. I never really thought of her influence in how I storytell now, but she may have been more influential in that way than I’ve ever realized before.

  10. Something you want to do more often?
Art-focused vacations/travel. I’m working on some AI-assisted planning to make that a bigger part of my life. This is one area where I can say AI has really made researching better in my personal life.
